Steepleton SID (Speed Indicator Device)

This Speed Indicator Device (SID) does not collect data apart from the speeds of approaching vehicles. It cannot pass this information on to anyone or the police as it is not connected on line or otherwise. It is purely an attempt to make drivers aware of their speed when travelling through Steepleton's 30mph speed zone.

Vandalism to our new SID : Along with other SID sites in Dorset, our SID was vandalised in June 2024. The battery box was forced open and the stout SS band cut to allow the thieves to steal the battery.  However the SID has been upgraded with a strong metal box with two padlocks and a protectrive screen at the front. 

Our SID is solar powered and works well throughout the year
