Both the parishes of Winterbourne Abbas and Winterbourne Steepleton are rich in archaeology.
The most well known site is the Nine Stones - west of Winterbourne Abbas.
The Nine Stones are located on the south side of the busy A35 trunk road that runs west from Winterbourne Abbas. It is very dangerous to attempt to park on this road in order to visit this site. The gate facing the road is, in anycase, locked. Please follow the instructions on English Heritage's website (link below) to access via the footpath from the west end of the village. The Coach House pub offers parking and refreshments.
