Electric Pylons Removal - VIP Project

Pylons / AONB (area of outstanding natural beauty)

This massive scheme was to put some 5 miles (8km) of overhead power lines (supported by numerous unsightly pylons) that run across from the Winterbourne Abbas and South Dorset Ridgeway area underground. The project was shortlisted from 12 nationally and was completed as planned in 2023. There was no government funding but it is understood that the cost will be recouped from future electricity bills from all consumers on a national basis.
